I am an experienced, qualified and accredited counsellor. For over 20 years I have provided individual and couple counselling to a diverse range of clients covering a very broad spectrum of counselling issues. I have particular experience of and interest in relationship issues, anger management, career and work related problems such as redundancy, depression, stress, transpersonal issues, loss, low self-esteem, anxiety, financial worry, family issues, obsessive behaviour, trauma, crisis situations and ill health.
I work in a way which respects your needs, individuality and background. The approach I use is called Integrative, which means that I do not restrict myself in how I work; my training and experience enables the use of different counselling approaches. The models I draw from include Person Centred, Cognitive Behavioural, Gestalt, Transpersonal and Transactional Analysis. This allows me to ensure that the work we do is tailored to your exact needs.
I like to think I have a good sense of humour and that I work in an open, relaxed and jargon free manner. I believe that it is important for my clients to feel comfortable with me so that we can work together to achieve lasting results.
I believe that my main attributes are being perceptive, empathetic and skilled at helping individuals and organisations see the bigger picture and what is really at the heart of the matter. My key expertise lies in assisting people through the process of change and development. Have you ever tried to instigate a change in your life by changing your way of thinking, maybe by practising positive mantras, but have run out of steam when the changes don’t happen? As you may have already discovered positive thinking on its own is seldom enough. Personal change is often a complex matter and can require specialist support. Over the years I believe that I have developed an in-depth understanding of what you need to do to instigate and sustain effective long-term change.
I hold qualifications as a counsellor, coach, trainer and stress management consultant.
I am an accredited counsellor with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP Accred). This means that my training and experience as a counsellor meets the necessary standards to have gained accredited status. I am also registered as a Counsellor with the United Kingdom Register of Counsellors.
I have counselled individuals and couples in a range of issues including; post traumatic stress disorder, depression, loss, transpersonal issues, loss, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, life purpose, work related issues, abuse, anger, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder and panic attacks.
I have coached employees in organisations, including executives, managers and people who have been made redundant, on issues including dealing with change, effective performance, people management and work life balance. I have provided face to face, Skype and telephone coaching to individuals who want to deal with personal or work related issues. Issue which we have worked on include: managing stress, confidence building, interpersonal skills i.e. dealing with workplace politics and achieving life/career goals.
I have developed and implemented training programmes in the voluntary, public and corporate sectors. Training I have facilitated has included: dealing with change, career development, leadership issues, mindfulness in the workplace, workplace conflict, stress management and interpersonal skills.
I have set up and managed a Counselling Service for disabled people in Coventry and Warwickshire.
